Posted below is some info about the Colorado People’s Assembly, which takes place this Saturday at CU Boulder. RSVPs are strongly encouraged due to space constraints, and can be done here.
On the Occupy Boulder website there is a detailed breakdown of the agenda for the day. As you can see there is lots of good stuff planned, don’t miss out!
Colorado People’s Assembly – Be a part of the Statewide Occupy Strategy
The Colorado People’s Assembly was created to bring together in solidarity members of GA’s from across the state and region. It is a day to share resources and knowledge, to facilitate GA’s working together, and to bring people with similar interests into contact. The Colorado People’s Assembly will give GA’s around the state the tools they need to be successful on behalf of the 99%.
Subjects to be discussed include, but are not limited to:
- Money in Politics with assistance from Common Cause
- Economic Inequality and Foreclosure Resistance with assistance from the Colorado Progressive Coalition (CPC)
- Environmental Justice and Sustainability
- The Rising Cost and Diminishing Standards of Education
- Finance and Banking Reform
- Health Care
- The War on Drugs
Following on-campus events, there will be an evening march to the Old County Courthouse beginning at 7pm. This will culminate in the establishment of a one night-only inter-occupy group Occupation and Encampment at the Old Courthouse.
This will not be a permanent encampment, but a way for all of us to create fellowship and solidarity while continuing to plan for the future we seek. The encampment will be politically motivated and a good neighbor policy will be maintained and ensured. NO violence, drunkenness, inebriation, alcohol, cannabis, or other drug use will be tolerated in the encampment. People violating these rules will be asked to leave the encampment. There will be zero tolerance. An inter-occupy security force will be created and dispatched to end any violations of this rule.
The University has requested that attendance be by RSVP as only 342 people can participate in the CU hosted events. However, the march and evening encampment will be open to all. Potential overflow events are possible, but difficult due to University restrictions.
Invitations have been sent to all Occupy Groups statewide (and some out-of-state) to participate, bring tents, bring ideas, bring voices and concerns. The encampment will be suspended on Sunday as the Occupiers return to their hometowns enriched by the experience.
Occupy CU is asking for volunteers to help co-ordinate and run the actual event. We need folks comfortable with running electronics, greeting and directing, welcoming, driving (if needed), bus coordinators, and logistics. We’ll also need people to help promote the event, from fliers to interviewees for radio/tv/newspapers. Contact OccupyCU if you can assist.
